Pregnant Halle Berry cradles her growing baby bump as she catches up on phone calls

Pregnant Halle Berry cradles her growing baby bump as she catches up on phone calls on the school run

As any parent knows there is no such thing as down-time.
And multi-tasking Halle Berry fitted in a quick phone call as she left her daughter's school after dropping her off for the day.
As her baby due date approaches the pregnant star of The Call must have a lot to organise.
Halle couldn't resist the urge to pick up her cell phone after kissing her five-year-old daughter Nahla goodbye on Thursday.

The 46-year-old actress rubbed her rounded belly affectionately as she strolled back to her car, already lost in her conversation.
Perhaps she was talking about the nursery she and fiance Olivier Martinez are no doubt designing for their baby boy or an upcoming baby shower.
Whatever it was it had Halle all aglow.
Look who's talking: The actress is around five months pregnant and she might be planning a new nursery or a baby shower

Miracle: At 46 years old, The Call star describes this baby with fiance Olivier Martinez a 'miracle'

So happy: Halle cradled her growing pregnancy bump on the way to the car while the conversation kept going

The star was looking fashionably chic in black stretch trousers and a long black riding jacket over a grey knit jumper, as well as rugged black lace-up boots and trendy cap.
Halle was mightily covered up for Los Angeles which has been experiencing a humid heatwave but she seemed not to mind the extra layers.
No doubt Halle had a short list of errands to attend to before she was due to pick up Nahla from her school in the afternoon.
What heatwave: The busy actress was bundled up neat in black trousers, grey jumper and long black coat, which seemed like a lot of layers for a Los Angeles humid heatwave

She and Nahla's father Gabriel Aubrey, who split in 2010 after five years together, have been trying to co-parent peacefully following last Thanksgiving's violent episode.
Nahla's holiday handover turned brutal after Gabriel got into a fist fight with Olivier.
That unpleasantness is in the past.
For now the unexpected has happened and she's expecting a son her French heartthrob Olivier.
Halle has revealed that conceiving a child with Olivier - and at her age - is a 'miracle'.
The actress recently returned from Canada after filming scenes for X-Men: Days Of Future Past in which she reprises her role as Ororo Munroe and her alter ego Storm.
So little time: With her due date coming in about four months, no doubt Halle has a list of things to do

'The audience is aging, and the stars are too': How actresses over 40 are Hollywood's new power players

'The audience is aging, and the stars are too': How actresses over 40 are Hollywood's new power players

Just a decade ago, as an actress aged her fate was sealed - planned obsolescence meant young faces were rolled out to dethrone the red carpet's older reigning A-list.
But as the median age of movegoers increases, it seems Hollywood's actresses are aging with them - and they are getting better parts, and better pay, out of it.
From Cameron Diaz to Sandra Bullock, and Nicole Kidman to Melissa McCarthy, top film actresses in their 40s now out-earn their 30-year-old counterparts.

'There's a change afoot,' Sean Bailey, head of production at Disney live-action films, told The Hollywood Reporter. 'Part of that is attributable to changing audience trends. Women and a broader array of age groups are starting to matter more and more.
'A lot of these big movies are no longer solely dependent on young men showing up. When you take that in combination with the number of phenomenal actresses in this age range, it adds up to something exciting.'
As Hollywood fails to groom another generation with the same kind of star power as Julia Roberts, 45, and Jennifer Anniston, 44, the industry's youth-obsessed culture seems to be losing steam.
Where middle-aged actresses once had to pick up supporting roles scraps - with the exception of Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren and Diane Keaton - they are now taking center stage, dominating big Hollywood's biggest parts.
In the upcoming action-comedy, Heat, out June 28, 42-year-old Ms McCarthy and 48-year-old Ms Bullock lead the film as a Boston cop and an FBI agent.

And on March 15, the thriller The Call, opened as a top new wide release thanks the casting of Halle Berry, 46.  It has also been rumored that Penelope Cruz, 39, is set to play a Bond girl - the oldest so far.
More than one-third of all U.S. movie tickets purchased in 2012 were age 40 or over, according to the Motion Picture Association of America. It seems baby boomers are more likely see movies in a theater because the habit (versus streaming online) is already ingrained.
And a recent Performer Q Study, which measures how well-known and how well-liked a celebrity is, found that Ms Bullock, Ms Roberts, and Ms Streep took the top three film actress spots among U.S. survey respondents over 18.
Ms Bullock, who tied with Tom Hanks, 56, as the overall winner, was given a 41 Q score. Meanwhile, 30-year-old Anne Hathaway and 22-year-old Jennifer Lawrence had Q scores of 20 and 15, respectively. Twilight's Kristen Stewart scored just 10.
Many of today's A-list actresses, like 40-year-old Ms Diaz who was 21 when she auditioned for her break-out role next to Jim Carey in The Mask and 28 when she debuted as the voice of Shrek's Princess Fiona, have seamlessly transitioned into the over-40 set - and they are outearning sparkling 'new' stars in their 30s.

'There are more exceptional [casting] choices in the over-40 range than there are in the 30s range. The 30s range is kind of the tricky zone right now,' explained Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler, adding the Hollywood hasn't produced as many 'next generation' shining stars - with only a few exceptions, such as Rachel McAdams and Amy Adams.
Older actresses are also reigning supreme at awards shows: Naomi Watts, 44, was among the most recent crop of best actress Oscar nominees for The Impossible.
And among the supporting actress nominees, three were over 40: Helen Hunt, 49, for The Sessions; Jacki Weaver, 66, in Silver Linings Playbook; and Sally Field, 66, for her role in Lincoln.
This may have a lot to do with the fact that older actresses, with access to surgery, dermatologists, and personal trainers, are looking younger.
Women over 40 are 'no longer are expected to look matronly,' writes The Hollywood Reporter. Julianne Moore, 52, Sarah Jessica Parker, 48, Ms Kidman, 45 and Gwyneth Paltrow, 40, frequently top best dressed lists.
Still got it: Many of today's A-list actresses, like 40-year-old Ms Diaz who was 28 when she debuted as the voice of Shrek's Princess Fiona, have seamlessly transitioned into the over-40 set - and they are outearning sparkling 'new' stars in their 30s

And television might be playing an important role, too.
Kyra Sedgwick, 47, became a household name thanks to her role in The Closer. Glenn Close, 66, appeared on The Shield and then Damages, and Holly Hunter, 55, in Saving Grace.
Lucy Liu, 44, whose career took off thanks to the Fox hit, Ally McBeal, has made a return to the small screen the CBS hit Elementary; Helena Bonham Carter, 47, will play Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming BBC movie about the movie star's relationship with Richard Burton; and Ms Roberts is just taking on her first major TV role as a wheelchair-bound physician in HBO's The Normal Heart.
Leslie Siebert, senior managing partner at the Gersh Agency, explained: 'In TV, it's better now than it ever has been. Great, wonderful cable shows and even network shows are being built around female leads.'

Halle Berry: I shun trends

Halle Berry: I shun trends

Halle Berry
Halle Berry has denied she is influenced by trends in beauty and fashion.

The actress likes to stick to the products and styles that she knows suit her best.
Halle is renowned for her cropped brown locks and the 46-year-old admitted even if she wanted to change up her look, the length of her hair limits the options.
"I don't follow fashion or beauty trends, I just stick to products and colours that work for me and suit my skin tone," Halle told the UK edition of InStyle.
"My hair is pretty short so I tend to wear it in the same style for red carpet events. To keep it looking healthy, I use Mixed Chicks shampoos and leave-in conditioners."
The pregnant actress' ultimate relaxation ritual is a soak in a long hot bath. She also named a visit to her favourite beauty salon as part of her beauty routine she follows religiously.
"I allow myself the luxury of indulging in nice products for the bath or shower. I like to use jasmine and eucalyptus oils as they create a really relaxing experience," Halle smiled.
"Whenever I visit my favourite spa, Kinara, in Los Angeles, I stock up on their products to use at home too. Treatment-wise, I like a salt scrub followed by a mud or detoxifying seaweed wrap. They're feel-good treatments, like a good hug."
Halle says the beauty advice she hopes to instil in her children is the importance of sun protection. Applying an SPF every day is the best way to insure you stay looking good for longer.
"My daughter Nahla is only five but I've already got her applying sunscreen daily," she finished. "You need to start early to make sure skin is really smooth and even and not patchy or blotchy. I'm going to continue to drill that into her, to make sure it's part of her everyday life."

Halle jets into Los Angeles from X-Men film set

California calling! Halle Berry shows off her laid-back maternity style as she jets into Los Angeles from X-Men film set

By Iona Kirby

She has been jetting back and forth as she balances her home life in California and filming her latest movie in Canada.
But as Halle Berry arrived in Los Angeles on Saturday, it was clear there was no place she’d rather be.
The pregnant actress’ casual Californian style gave the game away as she padded through LAX airport.

She covered up her burgeoning baby bump in an oversized white knit sweater, which she wore over a black calf-length dress.
The star looked ready to hit the beach in black sandals and simple sunglasses.
Halle had been in Vancouver where she is reprising her role as Storm while shooting X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

The 46-year-old had a sweet smile on her face and was no doubt glad for the warmer weather which was awaiting her.
But perhaps her sunny disposition also had something to do with the fact that she was joined by her fiancé and baby daddy Olivier Martinez, who is going to become a father for the first time.
Her French actor beau, 47, showed his chivalrous side as he wheeled Halle’s suitcase, while dressed in his favourite outfit of grey T-shirt, black leather jacket and jeans.

Halle had her hands free to browse her messages on her mobile phone the moment she debarked the flight, which typically takes a little under three hours.

While Halle has been away, her former flame Gabriel Aubry was taking care of their daughter Nahla.

The French Canadian former model was clearly relishing in being on Daddy duty as he was spotted taking the four-year-old to school on Friday.
Halle recently opened up about expecting her second child at her age, admitting that conceiving a baby with Olivier was a 'miracle'.
She told ET Online: 'I'm thinking that this is a miracle. I feel really happy. It's one of the best things that happened in my life, for sure.’

They may have been involved in a well-publicised custody battle following their separation in 2010.
But it seems Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have managed to put their issues behind them for the sake of their little girl - Nahla - as they were both spotted spending time with her on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
The 46-year-old actress kept her baby bump hidden in a large draped Hoxton Monument coat from AllSaints as she doted on her daughter, while model Gabriel was spotted carrying his child later in the day.

The Oscar winning actress, who is expecting her second child with Olivier Martinez, looked chic for their time together wearing the large top which she teamed with a pair of shorts.

Her toned legs could be seen on display and she opted for comfort in a pair of flat sandals.
Her five-year-old looked pretty in a grey dress with pink ruffled detail and her hair was tied back in a plait.

The baby, a boy, will be the first for 47-year-old French actor Olivier and Halle has admitted she was shocked when she found out she was pregnant for a second time, as she simply thought she had kidney stones.
'I was at the doctor's when they told me and I was completely shocked,' she told Hello! magazine last month. 'I didn't see it coming. I went to the doctor because I thought I had kidney stones or something.'
But she and her husband-to-be were thrilled at the news. 'Olivier and I have always wanted to be parents, but I didn't want to get my hopes up.'
The school trip came as the Hollywood star beat off the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge and Penelope Cruz to be named the Most ‘Glowing’ Celebrity Mum-To-Be, in a poll conducted by MyVoucherCodes.

In a poll conducted by MyVoucherCodes, an array of women agreed that the 46-year-old actress was the best pregnant celebrity of the moment.
"Halle Berry might not be the youngest mum-to-be of the group, but she still managed to steal the top spot from Kate Middleton and Frankie Sandford," said Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk.
"Many celebrities look great during pregnancy, but it has to be remembered that they might look entirely different without stylists and personal make-up artists. Each of the mums-to-be in our top ten look healthy and like they’re really enjoying their pregnancies, something that I think is a big contributing factor to that pregnancy ‘glow’ we hear so much about."
